The National Testing Agency (NTA) is all set to conduct the CUET UG 2026 examination from 11 May to 31 May 2026 in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode. With more than 15.68 lakh students registered, CUET UG has become one of the largest undergraduate entrance examinations in India. The exam will be held across multiple cities in India and in 14 international cities, making it a major gateway for admission to central and participating universities.
This year, the examination has recorded nearly 67.56 lakh test instances, showing that students have selected multiple subjects to keep their admission opportunities open. On average, each candidate has chosen around 4.31 subjects. States like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Delhi have reported the highest number of registrations.

According to NTA, the examination will be conducted in 35 shifts to manage the huge number of applicants smoothly. English remains the most selected subject, followed by Chemistry, Physics, General Aptitude Test, Mathematics, and Biology. The increasing popularity of CUET highlights its importance in undergraduate admissions across India.
Candidates appearing for the examination must carefully follow all exam day instructions to avoid any last-minute problems. Students are required to carry a hard copy of their CUET UG 2026 admit card along with a valid photo ID proof such as an Aadhaar Card, Passport, PAN Card, or Driving License. Passport-size photographs matching the admit card photo are also recommended. Without these documents, entry to the examination hall will not be allowed.
NTA has also released a list of prohibited items. Mobile phones, smart watches, calculators, electronic gadgets, wallets, books, and study material are strictly banned inside the exam centre. Candidates are advised to carry only essential items to avoid delays during security checks.
The dress code for CUET UG 2026 focuses on comfort and security. Students should wear light-coloured clothes and simple footwear with minimal metal accessories. Clothes with large pockets, heavy buttons, or metallic decorations should be avoided. Candidates wearing religious attire such as hijab, turban, or burqa are permitted but must report earlier for additional frisking procedures.
Special facilities have also been arranged for PwD and PwBD candidates. These include extra examination time, scribe facilities, wheelchair assistance, and separate seating arrangements when required. Candidates must carry their disability certificates for verification purposes.
Students are advised to reach the examination centre at least 90 minutes before the reporting time mentioned on the admit card. It is also recommended to visit the exam centre location beforehand if it is unfamiliar. Candidates should avoid last-minute stress, get proper sleep, and focus only on quick revision before the exam.
